Abstract

In this article, the singular defensive construction which represents the tower keep of the Ablitas castle will be presented. It preserves its lower section that originally served as a water supply cistern for the defensive enclosure. This is an exceptional construction since it is built on the rock strata, namely, it was erected on the terrain, instead of being drilled in the ground. We introduce the unpublished roster of mason’s marks present on the ashlars that make up the dome of the inner room of the tower.
