The cases of Santa Maria de Ujué, Santa María de Olite and Santa María de Irache
Abstract
The present study analyzes the existence of roofing-tile materials of the late-antiquity period in contexts that evolved throughout the Early Middle Age to sanctuaries or churches. This constructive elements, can contribute to the edicula or primitive cult buildings identification in those spaces in which the ruins remain hidden or have been very altered and even destroyed by the superposition of successive religious buildings. The tegulas and imbrices described below offer the possibility of establishing the appropriate cultural and chronological relationships, and comparing it with similar findings in the peninsular area.
