Abstract

The archaeological excavation carried out between September and October 2020, on the site of Calle Príncipe de Viana 18-20 in Ribaforada, has yielded the location of new remains corresponding to an Islamic necropolis, specifically, to 31 primary and individual burials in graves simple (Darih type). Most of the burials are located in the right lateral decubitus with the face oriented towards the Southeast (Mecca). We are facing the fourth maqbara excavated to date in Navarra. The first conclusions point to a necropolis in the rural area of which we cannot specify for the moment whether it belongs to the Andalusian or the Mudejar period.
