Ermita de la Virgen del Pero (Peralta/Azkoyen). Campaña arqueológica del 2023 [Chapel of the Virgen del Pero (Peralta/Azkoyen). 2023 archaeological campaign]
Abstract
The site is located next to the bridge over the Arga River on the south bank of the Molinar River into Peralta / Azkoyen. The intervention included an archaeological excavation in an area inside the chapel chronologically ascribed to the 15th century. The work aimed to excavate, document and extract some of the successive structural elements reflecting the different uses to which this space was put in modern and contemporary times: place of worship and burial, defensive fort, municipal warehouse and slaughterhouse.
