Sondeos arqueológicos en el castro de la Edad del Hierro de Las Vistillas (Lerín) [Archaeological surveys at the Iron Age hill fort of Las Vistillas (Lerín)]
Abstract
The Las Vistillas de Lerín site is located on a hill at 406 meters above sea level, just 300 meters from the current municipality. It is described as a hill fort dating from the 1st to the 2nd Iron Age. In 2023 and 2024, stratigraphic surveys were carried out on both the upper platform of the site and its southern slope, with the aim of assessing its state of conservation and obtaining a complete chronostratigraphic sequence. The surveys have revealed part of the defensive system, walls, floors, and amortization phases that indicate intense occupation between the 5th and 2nd centuries BC.
