Nuevas dataciones para la fundación de la ermita de la Virgen del Pero, Peralta / Azkoien [New dates for the foundation of the hermitage of the Virgen del Pero, Peralta /Azkoien]
Abstract
The site is located next to the entrance bridge to Peralta / Azkoien, over the Arga River, on the south bank of the Molinar River. The fourth campaign has had as its objective the verification of the presence of a cult building prior, in time, to the current apse and to continue advancing in the exhumation of the burials located in the nave of the sanctuary. Archaeological action and C14 dating have allowed us to confirm the moment of foundation of the basilica in the 14th century. On the other hand, 16 new burials have been registered and excavated.
