Campaña de excavación 2025 en la cueva de Abauntz (Arraitz-Orkin, Ultzama). Actividades realizadas y nuevas dataciones [2025 excavation campaign at Abauntz cave (Arraitz-Orkin, Ultzama): activities conducted and new dating results]
Abstract
The activities undertaken during the fourth archaeological excavation campaign at Abauntz Cave (Arraitz-Orkin, Ultzama Valley) are presented. The work enabled the completion of the excavation of level h in the test pit of Sala 2 and confirmed the sterile nature of level i, thereby defining the lower boundary of the sequence. In Sala 1, the top of level 101 was reached, and its stratigraphic relationship with level 100 was documented. Notably, a new radiocarbon date for level 101 (>46,900 years calibrated BP) was obtained, and samples were collected for thin-section analysis and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating.
