Abstract

This research has two distinct parts. The first part deals with snow as a natural element used by man for different purposes from Prehistory to the Contemporary Age. A brief look is taken at its commercial exploitation and socio-economic value. The storage pits, ice houses, and the main types of ice house are described. The second part of research provides a comprehensive list of the ice houses in Navarra, detailing their main features.
