Mezkiritz a través de los documentos [Mezkiritz through his documents]

Abstract

This article summarizes different aspects of Mezkiritz, village of Navarra located by Santiago’s way, which appears in archives datings from the year 1071. Various aspects of everyday life, its origins, the first houses, place names, the evolution of population numbers, the relations with neighboring peoples, the consequences ofWars, marriages and wills are analyzed by means of three files. It is from the XVII century onwards when documentation is richer, allowing us to follow its evolution in detail. This will help us shape the image of this small town and its evolution over the centuries.
