Abstract

Following the chapters on agriculture, the present article deals with day-today aspects of the life of the local population in Mendavia, such as the production and sale of bread, work in the mill and the daily purchases women made in local shops; for example, in the "pescamercería", which sold dried and soaked dried fish, together with pork and fresh pork fat and fatty salt pork, given that the sale of the latter items was not permitted in butcher's shops, which only sold Navarran lamb and beef. The importance of the dried fruit shop, which sold an extremely wide range of cheap, but no less useful and necessary products, is also reflected. It also looks into the sale of seasonal fruit...
