Encuesta etnográfica de Izal (Navarra). Notas sobre la casa y su equipo mobiliar [Fieldwork in Izal (Navarre)]
Abstract
Izal is a villa of Salazar Pyrenean Valley in the NE of Navarre, at an altitude of 715 meters, surrounded by mountains. The house walls are made of masonry and lime mortar plaster, carved stone in the holes and corners of the facade. Lumber and wooden slabs in floors and roof covered with ceramic tiles.
The major reform of the distribution of the house was the elimination of traditional fireplace, replaced by cooking range with the disappearance of fume hoods and chimneys features. Bread ovens also disappeared.
