Abstract
The fifth chapter about agriculture in Mendavia includes, among other details, historical aspects reflected in ancient documents; pechas or taxes which would be paid each year, like that handed over to the Duke of Alba at his Lerin Palace; payment made and received for grain, interchanging work for wheat, with special mention of craftsmen, public hearings due to disputes between neighbours, harvesters and gleaners; threshing, straw, measurements, granaries; living and dying in the field; expenditure on paths, soldiers’ rations from the different wars; taxes, payments of tithes and first fruits, their sharing out among the beneficiaries, and an annex with the name of the wheat and barley treasurers, as well as grain charges for over 150 years.
