Tradizioaren gainetik jauzi! Genero, tradizioa eta aldaketa Baztango mutil-dantzetan [Jump above the tradition! Gender, tradition and changes in Baztan’s «Mutildantzak»]

Abstract

The following paper researches the «Mutiladantzak» in Baztan valley, some dances that take place in festivities of the villages. Being a controversial custom, it produces different opinions among inhabitants, and the aim of this project is to know the origin and characteristics of the dances to understand the reasons of the controversy. To conclude, the dissertation explains the reasons of the current resistance to maintain the tradition, where the influence of powers and gender relations is tangible.
