Abstract

Transhumant sheep farming is a primary economic sector in the Mountain and Ribera of Navarre. However, in the Royal Bardenas its shepherding architecture is fading into oblivion and only some ethnologically remarquable examples are preserved speaking of Ethnology. Based on the examination of the field work, oral sources and archival documentation, this paper gathers the information relating to a settling in the landscape and territory through traditional pens, sheepfolds and enclosures. The analysis of the data tries to establish the own model of construction linked to the traditional trade and the geomorphologic environment of badlands.
