Ondare (ez)materiala Iparraldeko mugan nafar Pirineoaren kasua [Untangible cultural heritage on the Northern frontier: Navarrese Pyrenees’ case]
Abstract
At the end of the 20th century, «uskara» experienced a serious decline which ended with the disappearance of the last Basque speakers in the 1980-90’s. While these people, the last true speakers of the vernacular language, died, relations with the other side of the border began to weaken. In this paper through a qualitative methodology based on interviews done with people from both sides of the border, we analyze what the current state of the mentioned relations is like. In addition, opportunities and challenges faced by these communities will be analyzed to assess their posible future relations. The material and intangible cultural heritage maintained by these persons will be taken into account.
