Abstract

The collection of nineteen letters of the singular Basque writer Jon Mirande addressed to the linguist Luis Michelena constitute a valuable testimony of the postwar years. At the same time they raise interesting linguistic, literary and social issues concernig the situation of the Basque language prior to the Congress of Aranzazu (1968, which tackled the subject of the literary unification.
