Información magisterial en la correspondencia de Holmer y Mitxelena (1959-1961)
Abstract
The documentation offered in this installment is necessarily incomplete due to the absence of Holmer’s letters, which have failed to appear in the Mitxelena family archive. The progress of publications is both authors’ focus of attention, given the importance of Fonética Histórica Vasca (Historical Basque Phonetics), the Renteria man’s thesis, and El idioma vasco hablado (The spoken Basque language), the Swedish linguist’s all important book, both held up in the presses. Apart from the Basque Country classes, Mitxelena also gives a course in Salamanca. Finally, in the serious conflict created by the “Colaboradores de la Academia” (Academy Collaborators) association, the Basque academic intervenes, in no uncertain terms, in an attempt at denouncing and suppressing what jeopardized the academic institution’s statutes. Health problems seriously hindered his endeavour.
