Concepto de día-y-noche en Europa. Reconstrucción tipológica II
Abstract
The author published the first part of this study in edition nº 76 of FLV (p. 369-396). In this new installment the same idea is developed futher and the subject is looked inro in greater depth. New terminological material is presented from borh the English (fortnight, sennight) and the French (huit jours, quince jours), as well as from the Basque formulas of the type gaur-zortzi / gaur-hamabost whose equivalence of meaning is emphasized.
In an attempt at explaining the Basque dialectal isogloss egun/gaur ("today"), the author resorts to facts from medieval hisrory which have little to do with the Basque Country in itself. Particular attention is paid to the IXth and Xthcentury Norman presence in Lapurdum (Bayona).
