Información magisterial en la correspondencia de Holmer y Mitxelena (1957-1958)

Abstract

Whilst hurriedly preparing his thesis on historic Basque phonetics, the study of stress in the Basque language grabbed a great deal of Luis Mitxelena's attention over the two years covering 1957-1958. Holmer offered data on the Hondarribian and Five Navarran Town (Cinco Villas de Navarra) stress patterns which he knew, whilst at the same time he also looked into the semantic aspects of some Basque terms.

Inforrnation found in correspondence is vital material in constructing the history that surrounded the first public acts in favour of the Basque culture and language in the post-war period.

In addition to the first-hand testimonial importance of these letters, special importance should be given to the contribution the information they offer us makes to the sparse documentation from the time we have at our disposal.
