Irati Filmak: Un proyecto singular en el cine de Euskal Herria

Abstract

In 1985, lrati Filmak production, with the help of the Basque Government, began a film experience very singular in the present history of film in Euskal Herria: The production of three films based on books of sorne basque contemporary authors, and fully spoken in basque language. The films had no relevance because they were very short, not easy for distribution. So, lrati produced Kareletik in 1987 in the same line but longer. However Kareletik had no succes at all and it was the beginning of the end of lrati's adventure, showing the difficulties of surviving to the basque language in the film production.
