Galbarioac Uscaraz ofrecimentua (Etsain herrian aurkitua)
Abstract
Galbarioac Uscaraz Oftecimentua is a small handwritten workbook that presents, as its tide conveys, the religous practice of the Via crucis and finishes with an exposition of the glorious mysteries of the Rosary.
lts author was the parish priest José María Ibarrola, born in Etsain (Anué) in 1.864 and dead in Beuntza (Atetz) in 1939. lt is most likely that this book of devotions were written in Beunza in the late XIXth century for the use of its parishioners. lt was found in his family house, Giltorena, in his home village of Etsain in the summer of 1994.
According to Bonaparte's classification of the Basque dialects, the dialect used in this book of devotions can be identified as being the High Northern Navarrese and more specifically the Ultzama subdialect wich includes the language spoken in the valleys of Anué and Atetz.
