Abstract
With this article we tray to make a study of ancient Souletin, based on the analysis of place-names and antroponymes, their roots and archaic suffixes. We want to show that ancient souletin was closer to the rest of dialects, and that Basque was a more united language in the past. In order to understand this vocabulary we had to use Labourdin and specially Biscayan, the geographically most distant variety. A list of major toponymes shows that most souletin terms have their counterparts in Alava and Navarra (We have not compared the materials with Guipuzcoan or the whole Biscayan).
