Abstract

Created by the Royal initiative in 1766, on an old ironworkshop, it is a pioneering example of a town-factory created in the rural world. Based and inspired by the principles of the French Encyclopaedism, it worked as a place of research and development since the very beginning.

The remains identified so far correspond to, among other things, the building of furnaces, workshops and warehouses of raw materials, all major buildings in the steelmaking process of manufacturing different types of ammunition for the Hispanic armies.
