Abstract

This article attempts to offer an overall analysis of witchcraft in the Pyrenees as a whole between the XIII and the XVII centuries, providing information on the territories of the French Basque Country, Labourd, Béarn, Hautes-Pyrénées, Gascogne, Roussillon, Guipúzcoa, Navarra, Aragón, Andorra and Cataluña.

The most significant events regarding poisoners, soothsayers, covens and epidemics of demonic possession are highlighted, as are the acts, pursuing the witches, of the Inquisition, Episcopal Justice and Ordinary Justice, experts on witches from both sides of the Pyrenees collaborating with the latter.
