Uso y ocupación del medio natural: un análisis de las bordas en el valle de Erro y Auritz/Burguete [Use and occupation of the natural environment: an analysis of barns in the Valley of Erro and Auritz/Burguete]

Abstract

The present article studies barns in relation with land use and the natural environment, defining location and function (original/present) of barns in it. In order to do this, an inventory of barns has been compiled, taking into account their distribution over the land, biogeographical characteristics and their use in farming. The typology of these buildings in the Valley of Erro and in Auritz/Burguete has been established from this inventory. Aerial photographs from flights made in 1929-1930, 1956-1957 and 2006 have also been used in order to study the evolution of land use and, along with it, the land - scape.
