El molino harinero de Zubieta. Evolución histórica

  • David Alegría Suescun Doctor en Historia [Spain]

Abstract

The study covers the history of the Zubieta’s mill from its remote Medieval origins to its recent and successful restoration as "Eco-Museo" and, furthermore, future centre for new events. Legal, technological, economic and social aspects have been taken into account. This study also deals with the mills of the Malerreka surrounding area, a place rich in natural resources. The mayority of its mills were built by councils and neighbours on the occasion of the 16th century demographic and economic development. At the end of the 18th century these mills underwent an interesting modernization. In the 20th century many of these buildings were used as  hydroelectric power stations. Others, on the contrary, had their use changed or were simply abandoned.
