Encuesta etnográfica sobre agricultura: Sartaguda

  • Julián Díez Torres [Spain]

Abstract

Agriculture pervades the greater part of the everyday life of Sartaguda –a village in Navarra–. Following Barandiaran’s ethnographic questionnaire, this paper collects information concerning different kinds of settlements, crops, works, tools, marketing, land property, as well as rituals and beliefs related to agriculture within Sartaguda. Due to the systematic perspective of this research, historical changes are subordinated to the above mentioned structural issues. However, the answers given by the informants show changing ways of life as well as a changing society, far away from the mythical timelessness of popular culture.
