Revisión etnográfica del ciclo festivo anual en el valle pirenaico de Roncal [Ethnographic review about the annual festive cycle in Pyrenean Roncal Valley]

Abstract

This article studies the annual development of the festivities cycle in a rural valley. This region is embedded in the territory of the Pyrenees and is currently sharply forward in its depopulation. This motivates us to promptly carry out an ethnographic field study in order to recover data concerning the organization of time around the «party». Thus, we want to describe the structure of the festival calendar and its evolution over the last decades. However, at the same time, special attention needs to be paid to the ways of participation in the celebrations in every village of the valley.
