Alfarería de Estella: cuchareros de los Ybiricu [Estella’s Pottery: The Ybiricu Cuchareros]
Abstract
This article examines one of the most popular potteries, and of higher design quality, Estella pottery; we specifically approach the pottery of the Ybiricu family who worked in the second half of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century. We study a specific type of this pottery, the cuchareros, decorative pieces with varied glaze used to place cutlery after washing it. A catalogue of twenty copies of this cuchareros pottery is annexed. All Estella’s pottery has great ethnographic interest because it was the last pottery from Navarre that survived until the late 50s of last century.
