Abstract

In this work, we have studied the historical toponymy of Sáseta, one of the forty-nine localities making up the enclave of Treviño. To this end, we have consulted documentary sources ranging from the 16th to the 20th centuries, almost entirely unpublished. Once we had analysed the documentary corpus, we concluded that the Basque language died out in the north-east of Treviño in the second half of the 18th century and that it was of a clearly western linguistic variety.
