Abstract

This article contains the transcription of a tape recorded by the author in 1963; the speaker is Madeleine de Jauregiberri (1885-1977). The text is interesting for two reasons: as a specimen of the high-Souletin subdialect of the Basque language, and as a reflection of the concerns and personality of Madeleine de Jauregiberri, a major mid-twentieth century cultural figure in the Basque province of Soule.
