Abstract

In this article, the author resumes the theory of the possible Africanist kinship of the Basque language. He moves away, however, from the well-known association of Basque with the languages of Northeast Africa, which include the Berber language and others close to the Semitic languages. Instead, he suggests the possible relationship with the languages of western Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia, which are more similar to the only well-known pre- Indo-European language in western Europe, the Basque language. He offers the new generation of young linguists the opportunity to examine this new tack.
