Lacubegi eta Lacubeli
Abstract
This intention of this piece is to simply add, from the Basque language and culture, a new outlook on a matter that has already been debated: the interpretation of LACUBEGI as “eye, fount of the interior world”, the course by which to request a change of destiny from the gods of the interior world. Within the same line of thinking, we put forward the possibility of deriving the current UJUE from UXUNE, which may be related to OSIN, USIN “well that calls”, of interpreting the toponym LACUBELI as “black well”, and considering the existence of significant megalithic-submegalithic worship in the Ujué area.
