Abstract

The epistolary relationship between two such prominent linguists as Nils M. Holmer and Luis Mitxelena presents philological and semantic questions of extraordinary interest. The personal testimony of the Professor from Rentería contains in particular the key to the origins and the maturation process concerning certain questions related to his scientific work, taking stock of both accomplishments and doubts. There are also significant traces of humanism based on mutual respect and trust.
