Euskera y cine: Una relación conflictiva

Abstract

From the production of Ama Lur a new cinematography comes out in the Basque Country that looks for its own identity. In this search, the role of Euskera in the cinema will have an essential protagonism. Indeed, at the beginning, before the Euskadi’s cinema enters the commercial circuits, Euskera was always present. Little by little, as this new cinema becomes more proffesional and depends on the audience for survival, Euskera will be kept in a modest position with respect to Spanish. However, despite the obstacles, nowadays Euskera is still fighting to take part in the “basque cinema”.
