Remarques au sujet d'un article paru dans Fontes

Abstract

The article of Yu. Vl. Zytsar and T.s.G. Tchakhnachvili "Pour quelques comparaisons khartvélo-basques du domaine du lexique de l'élevage", published in the n.º 53 of Fontes presents some points which are to be discussed about. The absence of consonant-clusters or the dislike for dentals at the beginning of basque words should suggest caution when comparisons are made with other languages, with words like caucasian *staw- "head" or *daga "goat" for example. Caution is also necesary in the semantic field, when the authors give the hypothesis of the sense "hair" for the basque or proto-basque words buru and *ada-.
