Andoze ibarreko leku izen nagusiak eta xeheak
Abstract
In this item we studied the toponymy of Andoze Valley (Zuberoa, infr. Soule) situated between Larrau (Larrañe) and Licq (Ligi) villages. The name of the district is known elsewhere from several altars and tomb stones of roman times in Aquitania, but this district, in fact, was inhabited and populated form the XVIII th and XIX th centuries. The toponyms of this valley show us the ancient richnesses of the souletin dialect (zuberera) and the occurence of words forms only known, nowadays in biscaian dialect such as" atx" "rock" or in Labourdin-guipuzcoan ones such as At(h)e, Atheka "narrow pass", relics of an ancient unity of the basque language "euskara". The differences between oral and written testimonies are significants.
