A propósito del catecismo vasco de Ubillos

Abstract

The documents transcribed in this article are part of Prof. Luis Michelena's work material. Firstly, a commentary on Ubillos' catechism, remarking the French-basque authors' influence on it, especially on vocabulary and spelling.

He deals as well with the evolution of the letters s, j, g, and s, x in Basque southern dialects with examples from Larramendi, Aguirre de Asteazu, Moguel and Fr. Bartolomé. Finally, the original transcription of the article «Eraskin gisa» is offered, insisting on the same concepts the author dedicates to Ubillos.

Fontes Linguae Vasconum wants to take part in the commemoration of Ubillos' second bicentenary, faying at the same time grateful homage to Luis Michelena himself .
