El cielo en mentalidad vasca de cazador y de agricultor

Abstract

The autor interested in a work published in this magazine's former issue («Lexicologia vasca del tiempo», José María Satrustegui) puts forward his own points of view. He remarks the fact that Linguistic research, when dealing with agriculture culture is exclusively based on Indoeuropean, end of Neolithic age. He propases Preindoeuropean as a basis, an earlier hunters culture of our artistic Prehistory. Thus, he distinguishes two views: Our hunter looking into the sky with the root ARR from arra as a large hollow, the mother-hollow of sky, and the farmer who looks at the sky with the root ur from water. Ur in urte, «year» is the consequence of a semantic movement from ARR, from arte to urte with all its original, sacred contents. Urte for «year» cannot be related to water. The method he uses for his work is a Root Operator quite similar to the Semantic Code used by Friedrich from the School of Chicago.
