Toponimia menor de Los Arcos

Abstract

TOPONIMIA MAYOR DE LOS ARCOS is a collection of placenames that have existed from the Middle Ages to our days. Appart from its main aim, saving all this catalogue, it provides interesting materials for linguists. Thus, the various graphies with which each place-name appears have been transcribed. For this very reason a short chapter on diplomatics related to Los Arcos has been added. It contains place-names, most of them unpublished, from texts that go from medieval Latin, through Romance to the perfectly developped Castilian of the first agrarian regulations of the XVIth century. The farmyards and apiaries that appear in the list are a good proof of this rural richness.
