Euskal Herrian gertatutako bategite etnikoen eta hizkuntzen arteko harremanen prozesuak aztertzen dira ikuspegi disziplinarteko batetik. Giza-genetikak Euskal Herriak oso aspaldidanik izan dituela biztanleak adierazten du. Euskera eta euskaldunak bategite etniko batetik sortuak dira; bategite horretan herri aurreindoerupar batzuek hartu zuten parte, haien artean kaukasiar herriekin afiliazio genetikorik zuten batzuk. Aintzinaro berantiarrean euskeraren egitura lexikal batzuk eraldatu ziren latinaren – prestigio-hizkuntza - eraginez eta epe luzerako akulturazio-prozesuak gertatu ziren euskaldunengan. Harreman sozialak oso urriak ziren erromatarren garaian, baina oso handitu ziren ostean. Euskal ahadeitasun-terminologian euskerarenak ez diren elementuen jatorri erromatarra da horren guztiaren lekuko.
