Abstract

The goal of this paper is to study the banditry phenomenon in the border between the kingdoms of Navarre and Aragon in the second half of the 14th century. For that purpose, we will use the papers written by the navarro-aragonese commission of 1380, currently kept in the Royal and General Archive of Navarre. These papers will allow us to study various aspects about banditry in this region like the type of crime, the origin of bandits or their modus operandi, as well as the compensation methods accorded by the commissioners.
