Abstract

Basing itself on a new microhistorical methodological approach to Navarrese migration to America in the early Modern Age, this paper examines the fragmentary data on a group of people interrelated at their migratory destination. Thanks to the information provided by Pedro de Abaurrea from Pamplona through two letters he wrote from Cuzco (1609), we have news of the life of the Navarrese community in Peru at that time. A group of men with a clear sense of identity, reinforced by distance, whose members did not break ties with their land of origin and maintained a feeling of community between them.
