Abstract

Unión Navarra de Izquierdas (UNAI, Navarrese Leftist Union) was an electoral coalition formed to take part in the 1977 elections, which expected to attract the various leftist currents of the opposition to Franco in Navarre. Due to its good election result, the coalition caused expectancy. However, it disappeared few months later, because of the partisan rivalry of its members and the growth of the new revolutionary basque nationalist
current around Herri Batasuna (HB).
