Pablo Sarasate, the violin of Europe

Abstract

Pablo Sarasate was one of the greatest violinists in history, but we are still far from knowing the true dimension of this personality. This article highlights four aspects regarding this relevant artist: his condition as a child prodigy, his importance as a virtuoso violinist, its role in the revitalization of contemporary musical composition and his compositional work. Through this tour highlights several ideas so far not sufficiently covered: the difficulties he had to overcome the violinist throughout his career, especially during the first fifteen years, its important talent as a performer, one of the first modern virtuosos, his commitment to the diffusion of music by composers such as Saint-Saëns, Lalo and Max Bruch...
