Las regiones castellanas fronterizas con Navarra ante la conquista del reino en 1512

  • Máximo Diago Hernando [Spain]

Abstract

In this article the author studies the consequences that the proximity with the kingdom of Navarre had for the frontier regions of the kingdom of Castile during the period immediately before and after the conquest of Navarre by the king Ferdinand the Catholic in 1512. Among other questions, he pays attention to the political role played in these regions by the captain of the frontier, and, after 1512, by the viceroys of Navarre, and to the problems occasioned by the presence and transit of a great number of soldiers. He also pays attention to the contribution of these regions to the conquest, and to the defence of the kingdom of Navarre
