Nuevas investigaciones sobre el pintor Diego Polo
Abstract
There is no doubt that the Puente la Reina painter Diego Polo lived and had his workshop in this town as of 1501, the year in which he made the reredos of Santa Lucía for the local Church of the Crucifix, receiving a strange form of payment in return for this work: the right for his family and himself to be buried at the foot of the Chapel of Santa Lucía –for which he had painted the reredos–. Polo, married to Juana de Aoiz, had at least four children, Martín Polo Aoiz, though he did not continue in his father’s footsteps, being his main heir. Finally, his work for the parish church in Artazu should be highlighted.
