Abstract

The finding of the painter’s, Lucas de Pinedo, signature in an Adoration of the Magi (placed in the Clarisas’s convent in Olite) was what initiated this article. The canvas is the first signed big format painting of Pamplona’s workshop, in the 17th century. This fact encouraged us to begin and investigation about Pinedo ´s life and his creations. We have also made a thorough study of the painting, basing it on multiple readings concerning the issue and iconography.
