Abstract

Along the first half of the eighteenth century the house became in Navarra the mirror of the social and economical power gained by its owners, which gave way to the renovation of the domestic architecture phenomenon. This is the context where we can situate the Borda de Maya family, from Baztán. At the seventeenth century, thanks to their business and a well meditated marriage politic, their members gained not only a big economic material heritage, that they organized through a  mayorazgo, but also a high social position that included a seat in the General Court of the Kingdom.
