Abstract

A codex, entitled the Chronicle of the Kings of Navarre, is kept at the University of Navarre Library. It closely follows the text of the Chronicle of the Prince of Viana, written in the fifteenth century and continued by Diego Ramírez de Ávalos de la Piscina in the 1500s.
Ávalos chronicle is an outstanding compilation that enjoyed a very broad diffusion as one can judge on account of the number and variety of preserved copies (twenty-six), all of them of late making.
